First before you go out an buy a new battery, how old is your battery? If you have had it for a couple of years then it is likely a dead battery. However if fairly new, you may be able to get some more use out of it with a reconditioning. Let the battery drain completely and then do a full charge. Repeat this 2-3 more times and then see how long the battery lasts. Although you still may not get too much more from this battery, it's worth trying and then keeping as a back up once you get a new one.
