Recovering from Lenovo laptop hardrive?
Recently, my Lenovo ThinkPad W500 (about 2-3 years old) stopped working. It crashed and since then will not power on. If I want to recover files from the hard drive (provided that it is not the hard drive that is fried), which hard drive adapter will I need/will be best for me, and how should I go about recovering these files and placing them onto a new laptop?

any would work really. its just personal preference. the adapter i personally use is an bt-300 by topmicrousa. it works really well and it transfers at amazing fast speeds. you just need to connect the hard drive to the device and copy and paste. its pretty easy ! if you have any further questions or need more help, feel free to email me and i will do my best to help \(^_^)/

You will have to purchase a 2.5 inch HDD USB casing. Remove the HDD and install in the casing. connect to a working computer through the USB port. It will appear as a separate drive. You can copy and paste all files. In case there is some damage to the HDD try Linux OS for recovery. Here is one example casing :http://cgi.ebay.com/Silverstone-TS04B-USB3-0-2-5inch-SSD-HDD-Enclosure-/330525848426?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item4cf4e0336a
