Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop

I have added enough RAM to my Lenovo laptop to total 4 GB. Why does it only recognize 3 GB?
I just bought a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop computer. I increased the RAM memory to 4 gigs but the computer only recognizes 3 gigs. I am running Windows Vista Business as the OS. How can I get Vista to recognize all the RAM?

This is the limitation of Windows 32 bit. You can install 64 bit windows.

Vista 32bit only recognises only up to around 3GB of RAM. The only way for your laptop to fully recognise all the RAM in Vista, you need to get a 64bit version of Vista. If you bought Vista Business edition, you can order the 64bit version from the Microsoft website for a small fee.(shipping/handling)
