i have a lenovo laptop with built in webcam recently it got wiped and now i have windows 7?
the problem is i cant find my webcam anywhere on it, there was usually an icon on My Computer page and now its not? what do i do? i already did the control panel thing and it didnt work, how do i reinstall drivers?

Better battery for my lenovo laptop
I want a better battery for my lenovo laptop. Which is the bast one that is compatible?
Hey I'm looking for a better battery from my lenovo laptop. (I love it by the way) I have a ThinkPad edge 0578CTO model. I just don't want to buy the wrong thing and have to return it. Laptop computer batteries comes with a 1yr Standard Limited Warranty when brand new because 1 year is the life expectancy of the battery. If you want a better battery, call Lenovo ThinkPad's Support Hotline Toll Free # 1-800-426-7378, then tell the person who will take your call that you want to purchase a new battery for your computer but you want to know if they have a high performance 6cell or an 8cell a 9cell battery available for your Edge 0578CTO model computer. The more cells the battery has, the longer it will last before you need to recharge it again. FYI: I always tell my customers, a laptop's battery is similar to a cell phone's. You charge it when it's depleted & you unplug the adapter when it is already fully charge (this will prevent the battery from getting overcharged & extend the life of the battery). So for less hassle, I always advice my customers to just remove the battery if they plan to use the computer for long hours straight (more than 1 hour) and just run it on AC power alone so as not to overcharge it & shorten the battery life. FYI, laptop, as the name itself... well, I really don't use it on my lap b'coz sometimes our leg, the bed cover or some clothing may already be blocking the air vent without our knowledge. Also, if your computer is running a lot of applications that means that the HDD (Hard Disc Drive) is moving very fast and any minute (small) movements of your legs creates vibrations inside (which we wont see from the outside) that causes damage to the HDD discs, and eventually in a long time (when the damage is too much and in some cases the HDD makes a sound) the hard drive will crash. So, if your laptop came with a HDD protection utility, just like what Toshiba and HP has, you can always lower down the sensitivity level to level 2 or 1 but never completely disable the protection utility to prevent the HDD from getting damage from the inside and use the computer on a stable surface. Now, like what I always tell my customers, to always create a restore point (every last day or first day of the month) and make sure that you constantly back-up any important pictures, documents or files from your HDD to a Flash Drive/Thumb Drive or writable DVD±R or an external HDD, so that you will not lose any of these info just in case something bad happens. As you know, dust is almost always in the air. The air vents needs checking from time to time for accumulated dust might have clogged in the air passage way within the laptop itself. Use a flash light to check in the air vents. If you feel no air coming out, then have the fan changed b'coz it's not working anymore. Check the bottom of your computer, it usually has rubber pads that provides ample space between the laptop case bottom and the table. For the computers that I have used, these rubber pads provide enough clearance for ventilation for the hot air though it's not enough. It never hurts to be cautious, so for my own laptop, I bought a $15 2-fan Cooler Master U2 Cooling Pad from MicroCenter to help flush away the heated air from the bottom air vents of my laptop. Cool thing about the Cooler Master U2 is that you can position the fans on the right spot for better ventialation.

Could be for a number of reasons. Without actually looking at what is running on your computer it is difficult to say what is causing it.

Many possibibilities. Firstly, clean the system of all spyware and malware first. Also do a defragmentation of the hard disk. Hope this helps.

Will a high-end Lenovo laptop be able to run music production software without problems?
I am looking at buying a laptop for college in a few months, and for a requirement I have to get a pretty decent computer (i7 chip, 1TB external HD, etc). I also produce music, and am wondering if a laptop versus a PC will be able to smoothly run Sonar 8 or any major production software? Should I worry about overheating, or what other things? Eh just realized i forgot to mention, but I'll probably have at least 6GB of DDR3 RAM

It doesn't like log off or anything, just all of a sudden every now and then the screen will just go black and that's that. I turn it back on and it works fine again and everything i'm just wondering what could be causing it?

If it just shuts down while idle, check/revise your power settings. Your laptop could just be going on Standby mode. If it shuts down while you are doing something, it could be due to an error (could be due to software or hardware). The blue screen (BSOD) is just not showing up because it is not enabled.

Depends what your specs are. If you can play WOW on the lowest settings you'll be able to run photoshop. If you can run WOW on even higher settings, photoshop will work even better.

Photoshop recommends at least a 1GHz P4 processor and, 2gb of RAM. My back up computer is a 1.2GHz P3 512mb RAM. It runs CS4 with no problems. I've never attempted to play WOW on it but, the only program I've been unable to run was Adobe After Effects. Because, AE requires at least 1gb of RAM to run.

Depends what your specs are. If you can play WOW on the lowest settings you'll be able to run photoshop. If you can run WOW on even higher settings, photoshop will work even better.

Photoshop recommends at least a 1GHz P4 processor and, 2gb of RAM. My back up computer is a 1.2GHz P3 512mb RAM. It runs CS4 with no problems. I've never attempted to play WOW on it but, the only program I've been unable to run was Adobe After Effects. Because, AE requires at least 1gb of RAM to run.

There are several cause if your friend is receiving static sound. One of them maybe due to internet connection. To test your microphone try to record your own voice by using windows voice/sound recorder. Listen to it after recording, if you'll here static sound that your microphone maybe grounded but if there is no static sound then the problem could be from your connection or from your friends speaker.

Does anyone with a relatively new lenovo laptop know how to claim their "free" windows 7?
I purchased a lenovo Ideapad y550 a few months ago just before college started. I am currently running Windows Vista Home premium and I think it's time for that upgrade. Where to repair my Lenovo n100 laptop AC Adapter in Delhi, India?
My Lenovo 3000 family N100 series laptop AC Adapter went down few months back and I got a duplicate one, but it also stopped working after few months. Now I want to repair the original one. Is it possible to do that in lenovo service center or some where else?

IBM Lenovo model is 2007-55u
I need a replacement key for a Lenovo laptop?
I can't find any part numbers for the specific key but the IBM Lenovo model is 2007-55u. It is a T60 from Lenovo, not IBM because the T60 was manufactured under both companies. I can't find it online and I have spent over an hour on the phone simply getting the run around. Any ideas? Help for where to get the correct key is much appreciated!

I had a laptop, and unfortunately the windows vista crashed. I reformatted the drive. Now I do not have the Windows Vista CD from the manufacturer. How can I reload windows vista - I have the key provided by lenovo along with the laptop.

try getting another cd from friends and family and use it to install but use you're cd key from the back of laptop.

Lenovo laptop but am having probs connecting to highspeed

Your computer can plug directly into the Cable modem using a USB or Ethernet cable. That will make which ever computer is hooked up to the modem on the Internet. However, if you want both compters on your comcast at the same time, the simplest solution would to purchase a router.

download comcast software in home computer, burn it on cd or copy to usb pen drive, then copy it to laptop and install it. high speed work on laptop but you need to get network configuration right (maybe by installing comcast software to laptop via home computer)

Plug in the AC adapter and then power it up. Check to see if the battery is charging. If not, call service. If it does not work on AC then call service.

I bought my lenovo laptop about 4 month ago and I have had to send it in for repairs 4 times within this time period and had to spend hours and hours talking to the customer service reprentatives. I have only had the laptop in my possesion for maybe a month and a half out of the 4 months. I have talked to the managers too without any resolution. What do you guys suggest me doing?

Dude, sounds like you got a crappy one. But you don't have to make another mistake by buying ANOTHER PIECE OF CRAP from Dell! When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready. I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. I bought my lenovo laptop about 4 month ago and I have had to send it in for repairs 4 times within this time period and had to spend hours and hours talking to the customer service reprentatives. I have only had the laptop in my possesion for maybe a month and a half out of the 4 months. I have talked to the managers too without any resolution. What do you guys suggest me doing?

I have a lenovo laptop.How much can I sell it for?
I have a lenovo laptop.How much can I sell it for?
The only problem it has is that the windows microsoft XP installed in it is a bad copy.I have adaptor which works perfectly. The laptop is less than 3months old. It has got a built in camer, wireless internet option, radio and 3giga ram.

first it depends on if you want to sell to a store that refurbs and resells or if you want to sell it on something like craigslist. Without knowing the exact specs of your system beyond what you told me like the cpu speed the video type hard drive size. If you do not know these things go to a computer resaler and act as if you know everything about it so they dont kick you. Computer salesmen are the new used care salesmen because like cars many people dont know enough about what they have to bargan a good deal. Like cars they depreciate with age and you will get more money from a private buyer than you would from a resell operation as a personal sale is going to be used and a resaler of course wants to sell it and make a profit so you may also want to see if you can find your model laptop for sale used and try to sell it to a private person for less as you are not a computer tech and your word hold less worth on how it works than a professional, from a buyers standpoint. IMO i would think that you could POSSIBLY get between 2/3 to 3/4 the price you paid (if it is only a couple months old and is in good shape) now if you do not have a copy of windows to restore the computer then take off at least $100 from that price as windows is VERY expensive unless you have purchased professional software before its probably the most expensive piece of software you will ever have to buy. if you have a windows product key sticker on the bottom of the laptop then it may not be that big of a problem. In all i would do some more research on this as the information you gave is not enough to get a good estimate of price. EVERYTHING matters, screen size, screen type, memory, Hard drive size, cpu brand and speed, Video type (dedicated or shared) and speed on that measured in the memory and gpu speed, optical drive (is it a dvd rom, cd burner, dvd burner, dvd rom/cd burner, cd/dvd burner combo, lightscribe technology or other type of label making burner), wireless card type (a,b,g,g+,n-draft) even input and output ports like hdmi number of USB ports, even more than i have mentioned. otherwise you dont know what you really have. so if you can go to the store you purchased it at act likea buyer and write down all these speqs about the computer you have and then ask again as it will get you a very precise number. The easiest way is to discount the price by 1/4 post it on craigslist and see if someone bites. If you need money now and want to sell it right away ill buy it for $200 + shipping so you would have $200 in your pocket right away :-).

Lenovo R400 Laptop
Lenovo R400 Laptop takes much longer to charge after upgrading to Windows 7?
Hey guys, I just reimaged my Lenovo R400 model, upgrading from Windows XP to 7. This is a service done by my high school, and they have reimaged all of the students' computers (we're a laptop school). However, prior to the upgrading my computer took about 2-3 hours to charge. Now it is taking forever, like 5 hours. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

The OS has nothing to do with your charge time. The older the battery gets the longer it will take to charge. It is just coincidence that your noticing longer charge time. The new OS may be causing your LT to run at higher performance using more power, but it has no physical effect on your battery.

Which one is better value for money in laptop - Lenovo or Sony Vio?
I am planning to bye a laptop and finally decided on Lenovo or Sony Vio. Lenovo is giving a bit more than Sony vio for the same price. Which one should i go for. Can anyone suggest me a better alternative if any ?

Um, you've totally answered your own question there. If the Lenovo is a better spec for the same money then surely that means by definition it's better value? Which doesn't come as a surprise anyway, everything Sony makes is over-priced sh1t.

It depends on what you're going to do with the laptop. My advice is to not hinder your search for a laptop just by looking at these two laptops. Broaden your horizon by looking at Dell, HP, Gateway, Acer, AlienWare, and vprMatrix.

Lenovo laptop wont start up
My Lenovo laptop wont start up. It wont start in normal or safe mode. What do I do?
My computer will not load. I don't know what the problem is. It says press the Lenovo care button but I don't know where it is located. Can someone please help me? I have homework to do and so does my mom. There is no button that says Lenovo and now I get an error that says my harddrive is corrupted. What should I do now?

Recover your laptop using the lenovo care button. The lenovo care button is located on top right corner of your keyboard where there are some 4 to 5 shortcut button is located. for eg; the mail button, wireless on/off switch, help button, etc. there is a button with lenovo written on it. press & hold that button for abotu 2-3 seconds and switch on yr laptop and it takes you to the recover screen..!!

I'm looking to get a Lenovo laptop. Anybody have any opinions on them, good or bad?
The only reason I'm even considering a Lenovo is that my employer offers a discount through the website, but I know little about them, other than they used to be IMB ThinkPads. I've read some good reviews, but I know absolutely nobody who owns one. Thanks again.

My brother has one. He seems quite satifyed with it, they're like all other laptops. They are not one of the top-line laptops, but they are pretty good i think.

They are very good systems, very rugged and handle abuse well. I also assume you mean IBM. My wife has a Lenovo T43 and has been using it for about 4 years now with out any major problems or any need for replacing any parts.

Any notebook computer with an integrated webcam can take a video of you without your knowledge. A school actually issued students laptops that record them outside school. This is big news. That said, why were you messing with and trying to log in to someone else's computer? That could be a federal crime--illegally accessing a computer or network.

Go to settings/control panel/system/device manager and delete the sound device and shut down. Reboot and you should get the message "new device found" see if windows can install it from the windows files. If it is not there you will have to download the driver and install it manually.

Lenovo N100 laptop
Lenovo N100 laptop. problem is when the systems turns on the battery stops charging? How do i fix it?
I have a lenovo N100 laptop. The problem is that when the system is off the battery is charges when plugged on to the AC ADAPTER. when the system is switched on the battery stops charging. How do i fix it? I have tried removing the battery and restarting but the problem persists. Please help

Have you replaced the power adapter recently? Did you purchase this new, or used? How long have you had this laptop? When did this problem start? Possible reasons... 1. This is the wrong power brick for the laptop. It is putting out a lower wattage level (same voltage, lower amps) than the laptop requires. Examine the bottom of the laptop for the power demand, and examine the power brick for the power output. 2. You need to replace the battery due to age. It demands more juice to charge than it did previously. end of line

Lenovo laptop screen goes nearly black. How to fix?
My laptop is an old lenovo t60 thinkpad. The screen works well and fine until I start using it. Most times, it will go "off" as if the backlight broke. However, considering that the boot screen works fine, I think it's software related. Pressing fn+f7 toggles resolution settings and allows the screen to brighten momentarily. I can't seem to pinpoint the problem or solution myself. What may be the problem?
