Lenovo Laptop 3000 N100 series

How can improve the image quality on the integrated camera of my Lenovo 3000 N 100 series Laptop ?
The image on my Lenovo Laptop 3000 N100 series is very bad. It is grainy and dark. Is there any way that I can improve it ? I found that my friend's Intex external web cam (probably of the same resolution - 300 K ) is far better than the one on my Laptop.
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers

1 :
you can't really, it's just a bad camera.
2 :
You probably can't improve the image quality, unless the manufacturer releases a driver update that somehow makes it work better. If image quality is very important to you, you may want to purchase a seperate web cam.

on the lenovo american site they have more options and products than on the uk site and plus its cheaper. but can i pay in £ and will they be able to ship it to england?

Yes. You can. But your bank/creditcard will charge you for exchanging your money into $ plus interest. Also, unless you have a relative to hold and/or carry it overseas, it can cost a lot to ship. You should find out how much both those things will cost on your item and see if the difference in price with buying in the UK will make it worth it still.

Lenovo G560 laptop

Video Card Upgrade in a Lenovo laptop?
I have a lenovo G560 laptop. I completely love it except for the graphics card. The windows experience score would be at 4.8 if it weren't for the video card dragging it down to 3.4. I was wondering if the card is permanently in place like other laptops, or if it could be removed by a little work. It is an Intel model with a Pentium P6200 processor. It's only about 3 months old.

Laptop is DLU-0768

Lenovo Laptop neither running on Battery supply nor the battery is getting charged?
Laptop is DLU-0768. It works fine with the direct power supply. The battery LED will glow for about 5 secs during booting/plug in the power cord. When the direct power supply is switched, it will bring down the laptop immediately. When checked for the battery resource in Power Management about 87% of power is still remaining. But, slowly it is reducing. I have tried the following things, 1. Re-installed the battery. 2.Re- booted the laptop. 3. Cleaned the battery connecting points.

How do I erase everything on a lenovo laptop that doesn't have a disk drive?

How do I erase everything on a lenovo laptop that doesn't have a disk drive?
The laptop isn't opening any programs because it keeps on saying that their is a malicious threat and when I try to uninstall the program that is causing the problem it won't let me. The laptop doesn't have a security protection and I can't download one because the threats won't let me surf the web. That's why I completely want to delete everything on the laptop I don't care if I lose all the programs.

Try this. start the computer in safe mode with net working. (see below for how to) open internet explorer. click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options Now click on the Connections tab Now click on the Lan Settings button Under the Proxy Server section, uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN. Then press the OK button to close this screen. Then press the OK button to close the Internet Options screen. Now that you have disabled the proxy server you should be able to browse the web again with Internet Explorer. COME BACK TO HERE (on the infected computer). (still in safe mode with networking) the .exe file associations are probably going to be destroyed so download this first you will need it later. Fix .exe : http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/reg/antivirus-vista-2010/FixExe.reg Now get malwarebytes here, this is a direct download link so you should have no trouble getting it. click on this link ↓ and then select run. http://www.malwarebytes.org/affiliates/2-spyware/mbam-setup.exe INSTALL IT TO YOUR DESKTOP, update it, then run a full scan and remove everything it finds. Now install the Fix.exe registry entry you downloaded earlier. Now do this online scan. to make sure you have nothing else hiding away. http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ preferably still in safe mode with networking. (if malwarebytes will not start up, install the fix.exe first) .......................................................................................... How to Start Computer in Safe Mode with Networking. 1. During BootUp process Press F8 continuously until selection appears. 2. Use Arrow Up+Down to select SafeMode with Networking on the selections menu. 3. Hit Enter to proceed. .
2 :
When you say it "doesn't have a disk drive" I assume you mean no CD drive? It has to have a hard disk or SSD, otherwise what are you booting up from? In any event, running the system recovery program would reformat and reinstall the operating system clean. You'd shut the laptop off completely, remove the battery for about 10 seconds, reinsert the battery and restart the computer. During the initial boot sequence (before Windows loads) you would see BIOS messages about hitting a specific key to run the recovery program. Hit that key and follow the prompts to reinstall your OS from scratch.
3 :
On boot up (before Windows loads) press the F11 key for a few seconds to start the Recovery Program and follow on-screen prompts. ***This will erase all your unsaved data!*** © arou42

Lenovo Model no .Y550

Brand new lenovo laptop prompts me for a password, the first time i open it. What would be the problem?
Lenovo - Ideapad.Model no .Y550. As soon as i switch it on,it asks for a password, when this is the first time anyone's ever used it!
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If there is no mention of a default password in the manual that came with that brand new lenovo, return it to the point of purchase. Bring it back. There is no reason why it SHOULD have a password there, without some sort of indication of wht it is, and how to change it to something personal. Sounds more like it was a floor model that some customer PUT a password on. And if by BRAND NEW, you mean that you just got it from a pawn shop, you should call Lenovo/IBM, pay their service fee, and follow their instructions for an out-of-warranty repair. Otherwise, bring it back to where you bought it.
2 :
It sounds to me like there a BIOS password on your new laptop. Although I'm not sure why it's on there. There are ways to reset this password though, but it would probably be best to call the manufacturer/retailer. They will probably be able to walk you through doing this quicker.

What Lenovo Laptop would you suggest for me?

What Lenovo Laptop would you suggest for me?
I am a student, and all I am looking for is 3GB+ of Ram and at least 250+ GB plus of memory, Screen size is not that big of deal to me at least 13 inches though, and a dual core processor. Also, I am not looking for a tank of a laptop, something semi portable is definitely a plus but not a must. So would you say Dell is more high quality than Lenovo? That is generally what I am looking for, something that that is going to last and basically not cheaply made.
Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If you are looking to purchase a good high end laptop then go for DELL. Lenovo laptops are much costlier than DELL when it comes to good graphic cards.
2 :
Lenovos are costlier than Dells. And Cadillacs are costlier than Geos. Dells are poorly made and have poor support that usually tries to talk you out of them sending out a tech. Lenovos are built quality, and the phone support is helpful and ready to send out techs or parts without a struggle.
3 :
It depends on the line you get. T-series Lenovo Thinkpads (formerly made by IBM) are tough as nails and yet still quite portable. A T410 is probably going to be a good option for you. If you want a larger screen, look at the T510. http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?action=init&current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=19C791A03AF24034A0011B825513BCED They're very well built: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CrpUU3cCPE&NR=1 Dell's E4310, E6410 and E6510 Latitude laptops are similar quality wise. They're almost as well built as a Thinkpad. Any consumer end Dell or Lenovo is probably going to be worse than either the Dell Latitude or the Lenovo Thinkpad. If you go consumer end (Lenovo Ideapad or Dell Inspiron, Studio, or XPS), I'd still say the Lenovo has a bit of the edge on the consumer end though.

The assumption that All Lenovo laptops are exactly the same is false. The assumption that All Sylvania TV sets are exactly the same is false. What type of connections are available on your TV? What model TV is it exactly? What type of connections are available on your Laptop? What model laptop is it exactly? You see, if your laptop has a VGA output, and your TV only has a composite video input, then you would need to purchase a VGA converter like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815260035&cm_re=VGA_to_Composite-_-15-260-035-_-Product PC to TV kit. But, if your Laptop has an SVideo output, and your TV has an SVideo input, then you could just purchase an SVideo cable and go direct. So what cable and/or converters you may need depends on the specific models of laptop and TV that you have, and what connections are available on the devices. end of line

They make a FINE product, very reliable and pretty durable. Not a bad price. This is NOT a gaming computer, but it would be an almost perfect comp for school and work. It's specs should MORE than enough for the next three years which is about the lifespan of a notebook.
3 :
"Lenovo" was formally know as "IBM",the company which invented the personal computer as we know it,im not talking about the "Apple Mac" at all.the backup for ibm computers was as good as any other and it seems to be just as good today,so far.they are as good as any you care to name, just make sure you find one with specifications to suit your personal needs.
4 :
yes for the schoolwork and pics...it would be great it would also be ok for gaming but not great

short answer will be yes. but that will violate the license since it's originally for that hp laptop. if you really want it on the lenovo, you will have to remove ms works from your hp. so what you do is basically move the license from hp to lenovo. fyi, licensing is a very confusing stuff.

Hi all, I am running Lenny on an IBM Thinkpad X60 with a docking station, which is attached to a 19" Lenovo L191 screen. I have an Intel Mobile 945GM graphics card and I'm using the "intel" driver. The native resolution of my laptop screen is 1024x768, while the native resolution of my LCD screen is 1280x1024. My problem is that the resolution on my external LCD screen is is always detected at 1024x768? The monitor is always detected properly (1280x1024) when I use Etch. I can get xorg to switch the resolution to 1280x1024 by running this command "xrandr --output VGA --auto" after I login. But then I need to logout and back in again so the fonts look right. Can someone help me fix this or is it a problem with xorg not detecting my monitor correctly? Here's a snip of my xorg.conf if it will help: ----------------------------Snip--------------------------- Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller" Driver "intel" BusID "PCI:0:2:0" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Generic Monitor" Option "DPMS" HorizSync 30-65 VertRefresh 50-75 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller" Monitor "Generic Monitor" DefaultDepth 24 EndSection

Go to the Display Properties ( I assume you know how to find those), Go to Settings, Click 'Advanced', and 'General'. There you see a DPI setting, which is probably set to 120 DPI or custom. Switch it back to 96 DPI, and you are good to go.

Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers

Try depressing the "lenovo care"-button at startup.
2 :
You can try F11 or CTRL + F11 or [Lenovo Care] + F11 or just the Lenovo Care button. Do this while you see the Lenovo splash screen. If you can boot into Windows, there may be a recovery program in the start menu or accessible from the Lenovo Care button. Look for an option with Factory Settings or Format in the title.
3 :
If your Laptop came with a different partition containing Factory Restoring Files, You should try Help and Support option and search 'System restore' there. If you are using Windows Vista/7 you can easily find this option in start search .You should make sure that you haven't deleted or did any changes to those files as well.

First get yourself a Big roll of Duct Tape NEXT buy a PCMCIA laptop card with HDMI output or maybe just S-video connection the video will most likely will NOT be what you hoped peace
2 :
the laptop must have some sort of video out on it for this to be done, you should have a standard VGA out put on it or a S-video out on it , what ever out put you use, go to radio shack and get the cord or adapter , you need just bring it in they will understand it's pretty easy to do, good luck.
3 :
Use a VGA to VGA cable to connect the two.

you really need a dedicated gaming laptop if you want to be able to run the later generation of games with all the bells and whistles switched on, checkout Alienware laptops if you have the cash they are the ones to look at.
2 :
i think, ACER F1 laptop is the best there is..
3 :
The company I work for use Lenovo and 1 in 10 fail within the 1st year. Don't do it.....
4 :
Lenovo = no nonsense business brand. They're not exactly the type you'd be looking for if you want a good multimedia gaming laptop. Of all, I usually prefer: Toshiba Qosmio (good, but very costly) Dell XPS (great looks, a little costly but has good build quality) MSI (they have a bunch of gaming laptops, at pretty good prices.) ASUS (very good value, pretty good quality, and very good looks to boot. Take a look at the G series of gaming laptops) The ones to avoid: HP (lousy quality, terrible value) Gateway (see above) Alienware (the Prada of gaming notebooks, you'll most likely be paying more for less hardware. )
5 :
most computer manufacturers get their parts for the same source + assembly line.. however, you can get all the same features you're looking for in a LENOVO from HP for a much cheaper + slightly better quality ... just wait 'til the have a good sale and check techbargains for a promo code..... if you find the right combo you can get a fairly decent laptop for an amazingly cheap price!! look into an HP Pavillion dv3t!! the only downside to HP is their "award winning" customer service <3

I believe that something came off inside of it. If you want to risk it unscrew the bottom and make sure all of the cables and cards are plugged in. But broadcom is usually a wireless card so I don't know why it would show it. Other option is to write to the Lenovo tech support and ask for a suggestion.

Lenovo laptop died and doesn't do anything while pressing the power button?

Lenovo laptop died and doesn't do anything while pressing the power button?
A couple of days ago I was running 2 vista updates, one manual since it didn't do it automatic and one automatically. One update finished and then tried to reboot my system. Then the screen faded to black, when I try to turn it back on it doesn't do anything at all. It does show me the batter/power lights when I plug in the power brick. The laptop model is a x200t from lenovo.

Try these tricks, I am not sure which order is best or which combination, but you may have some luck: - Remove the battery and just use the AC adapter - Hold down the power button for 30 seconds - Leave the battery out and the AC adapter disconnected for a while
2 :
I read something very similar to sashazur's answer, except it said to remove the battery, disconnect ALL external connections (power,USB, any plug-in cards etc), and THEN hold down the power button for about 40secs (maybe a minute to be sure!). I presume the idea is to discharge any residual capacitance charge from the circuits? Can't remember exactly what the problem was that this was supposed to solve though!

I would suggest trying to run Windows / Microsoft updates to make sure you have the latest drivers. If that doesn't work I would check a possible loose connection. In almost every instance where I've had this problem, it was either a driver issue or a loose / bad cable. I hope this helps.

You have to change the keyboard layout, in Control Panel. It's just a setting in Windows. If you change to Spanish keyboard, you can have your accents. http://www.conversationexchange.com/resources/keyboard-language.php

Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop

I have added enough RAM to my Lenovo laptop to total 4 GB. Why does it only recognize 3 GB?
I just bought a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop computer. I increased the RAM memory to 4 gigs but the computer only recognizes 3 gigs. I am running Windows Vista Business as the OS. How can I get Vista to recognize all the RAM?

This is the limitation of Windows 32 bit. You can install 64 bit windows.
2 :
You are limited to how much ram the motherboard will recognize.Check your manual.
3 :
Becaue 32-BIT Oses, Only recognise 3GB only, even though you have 4 5 or 6GB in.
4 :
You have a windows. Do not pass go. Do not collect another gig of ram. :P
5 :
Vista 32bit only recognises only up to around 3GB of RAM. The only way for your laptop to fully recognise all the RAM in Vista, you need to get a 64bit version of Vista. If you bought Vista Business edition, you can order the 64bit version from the Microsoft website for a small fee.(shipping/handling)

you will need to disassemble the computer and remove the rom. disassemble the rom. You could shake it on its side until you can manage to get a hold of the disk. Really no other way of going about it.

How can I make my Lenovo Windows Vista laptop run faster?

How can I make my Lenovo Windows Vista laptop run faster?
I purchased my Lenovo laptop in August & it is beginning to run slow already :( Is there something I can do to make my computer run faster? I know I can close processes using the task manager and use the disk clean up. Is there a way to permanently make it run faster? I also do not want to go out & purchase anything, I am stuck with what I've got thanks :)

make sure your virus is on and scanning and their is no suspicious material. Defrag and clean your registry, using a free download like ccleaner and under control panel remove programs you never use or programs that the manufacturer includes for an outside company those just take up space.
2 :
The best thing is to upgrade the ram. Without buying anything, clean up everything (try CCleaner): http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ You could also uninstall unwanted programs or stop them from opening at startup. Hope this helps!
3 :
http://www.notebooks-driver.com
4 :
The most obvious answer here is to add more RAM. But you said you didn't want to purchase anything, so I guess that's out of the question. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently speed up your machine without upgrading the hardware. And with a laptop, the only thing you usually can upgrade is the RAM. Everything else you're pretty much stuck with. You could download a clean-up program. I use CCleaner. It's free and it's great. I just run it every now and then (even though my laptop isn't slow at all) just to make sure all the unused rubbish is being cleared out. Get it here: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Another option is to disable all visual effects on your machine. You don't say whether you have XP or Vista, but Vista especially will gobble up a lot of memory with all its transparency effects. You could switch to the Vista Basic theme and you should see a noticeable improvement. Bear in mind that Vista requires a minimum of 2GB of RAM to run smoothly. They receommend 1GB but I've tried that and it was horrendous. I now have 3GB. Also, even though it's less resource-hungry than Vista, any kind of fancy visual effects in XP, ie. fading or scrolling menus, etc. will still use some of your memory. So switch to the most basic theme so all of your memory can be allocated to tasks instead of visual appearance.
5 :
There are a bunch of ways that you can speed up your computer. In fact you can get your computer back to it's "brand new" speed without buying any new hardware. Here are some tips: http://www.ehow.com/how_2275357_computer-run-faster.html
6 :
If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task. First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it. http://www.delete-computer-history.com/what-is-the-best-registry-cleaner.html 2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how: 1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser 2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options". 3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files. 4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK. 5. Click OK. 3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how: 1. Open your Start menu. 2. Click Run 3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" 4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab 5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using. 6. Click "OK"
7 :
Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow". Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners. http://www.speed-up-your-pc.com/ You can download and scan your computer for free.
8 :
Check http://www.pcoptimizerprodownload.com With pc optimizer pro you can safely clean, repair and optimize your computer. It will help improve your system performance.
9 :
1. Disable Indexing Services Indexing Services is a small little program that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexes and updates lists of all the files that are on your computer. It does this so that when you do a search for something on your computer, it will search faster by scanning the index lists. If you don’t search your computer often, or even if you do search often, this system service is completely unnecessary. To disable do the following: Go to Start Click Settings Click Control Panel Double-click Add/Remove Programs Click the Add/Remove Window Components Uncheck the Indexing services Click Next 2. Optimise Display Settings Windows XP can look sexy but displaying all the visual items can waste system resources. To optimise: Go to Start Click Settings Click Control Panel Click System Click Advanced tab In the Performance tab click Settings Leave only the following ticked: Show shadows under menus Show shadows under mouse pointer Show translucent selection rectangle Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop Use visual styles on windows and buttons 3. Cleaner Registry Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer! Lots of things get saved on your PC that you don't need. Some are benign. Some slow you down. And some let prying eyes track what you do on your PC. install Registry cleaner and run daily Use the tool: http://downloadlk.com/themosteffectiveregistrycleaner.htm [if you do not have one]

You can get something called PartitionMagic, but it will cost some money.

If you want a free tool, download Ubuntu Linux. The install CD has a utility that will let you shrink down your existing XP partition and free up space for a new installation of Ubuntu. Run the utility, shrink the partition, then quit without installing Ubuntu. (unless you're doing this so you can install Linux, that is)

How do I clean a lenovo laptop screen without damaging it?

How do I clean a lenovo laptop screen without damaging it?
I have a lenovo laptop and the screen is dirty and I was wondering how to clean it without damaging the screen?
Laptops & Notebooks - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Clean it when the screen is turned off (never when its on, for various reasons). Use a soft lint-free cloth with warm water or a little bit of windex. Don't push hard on it.
2 :
With the laptop OF wipe the screen with a clean cloth slightly dampened with clean water wipe from side to side and with little or no pressure wait for the screen to dry completely before turning the laptop back on. Do not use chemical cleaners or window cleaners on your screen A micro fiber cloth is very good for this job
3 :
If you swing by Wal-Mart where they have all the computer stuff they have a special cleaning kit. There is even a static electrity remover. It helps keep lint away from the screen.
4 :
A laptop computer screen that you can't see is no good to you. You have to be able to see what you are working on, so keep your screen clean. The following are some options for keeping your laptop screen clean. Step 1 Spray the screen with an LCD cleaner for Flat Panel Monitors and Notebooks. These are found in a computer store and do not contain alcohol or ammonia which are found in most commercial glass cleaners. The products are advertised to cut through finger prints and other hard to clean residues. Follow the manufacturer's directions on the package for best results. Step 2 Wet a towel lightly with water and wipe the screen down. Be gentle so you don't damage the screen. Step 3 Clean the screen with a water-soap mixture. Wet a towel with water and add a small amount of soft liquid soap. Wipe down the screen. Use a second water-only towel to remove any left over soap residue. Step 4 Clean with hexane. Hexane is a chemical made from oil and when mixed with solvents is used in a variety of mediums. One use is for cleaning. It is colorless yet has a strong smell. Use with caution. Step 5 Clean the laptop screen with Petroleum Benzine. Petroleum Benzine is another colorless substance that is highly flammable. It has a potent smell, but is often used to clean laptop screens. Step 6 Ask the computer experts at your local computer center what to do if none of these steps are working. Places like Best Buy's Geek Squad can answer any further questions you may have to clean your laptop's screen. For more information, tips, and advice, visit http://www.startcleaningservice.com/ Hope this helps!
5 :
Never use windex or harsh cleansers on a laptop screen! They can yellow laptop screens, or leave spots. Cleansers with ammonia are especially bad, as they can permanently harm the screen. Use a 1:1 solution of water and isopropyl alcohol. Spray or dampen a soft cloth, like an old cotton tshirt, and clean your screen with that. Be gentle! Don't spray it on the screen because you don't want to get the keyboard or other electronic components wet.

I'm looking to get a laptop and I've pretty much narrowed down my search to Lenovo brand laptops. Now my question is which kind of Lenovo should I get? I am on a tight budget, and can only spend about 600 on a laptop. I have heard good things about the T42. I want one that is fast on the internet and will last me a good long time. Is there such a thing out there on my budget? Thanks guys :)

look for hps. they are good(they r some problems sometimes) they are the worlds biggest pc manufacturer higher thatn ibm. if u can get a desktop thatd be better but since ur asking about laptops ill help with that. with 600 u should be able to get dual core 2.2ghz 4gbs of ram intergrated video card(supercrappy but dosent affect web) u shoudlbe able to get this at bestbuy ive seen them for this price. and all comptuers past the 500 mark are fast if u know how to use them. it becomes slow after downloading and installing a lot of things and startup programs like aim that make it slow. all are fast. gigabit and wireless n would be great for the laptop.
