Not legally - and I'm sure you're not looking to violate the law. Apple has not licensed the MacOS for non-Apple hardware (when they do, Microsoft has something to fear).
2 :
No you can't. Technically speaking there are two factors RISC and CISC and the Apple OS(RISC based) contains opposite to that windows. And Lenovo works for windows. for more info go for http://www.amigau.com/aig/riscisc.html

Lenovo X301 laptop

I bought a refurbished Lenovo X301 laptop. On a full charge I get around 3 hours of battery life?
Should I assume that the battery in my system is used, and not working at 100%. I have read in reviews of the x301 getting 5 hours of real battery time. Is there any way to track the age of my refurbished system to find the age of the battery? Re: Low Power Mode; Do you know of a way to do this without compromising the screen brightness?
Laptops & Notebooks - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Battery life also depends on the power settings of the machine. If you put it into low power mode, you'll get 5 hours.
2 :
I cannot tell you how to check the age of the battery, but 3 hours is pretty good. My new Toshiba only gets about that. I bought a refurb Dell and the battery wouldn't even last one hour. I'd consider 3 hours pretty good. How often do you go three hours without getting near an outlet?
3 :
3 hours is considered very good. The screen is the most power hungry so the brightness is usually sacrificed first. You will get used to adjusting to it if you use it often without a charger. I have a old Thinkpad T23 and it could only last 35 minutes. When I got a new Thinkpad T500 with 9 cell battery I was shocked to get 5-8 hours of battery. Just remember refurbished always means it had a previous owner.
4 :
Well you don't know if the battery is new or not, unless you try it out. You can get 5hours battery life by lowering the screen brightness. There is a way of tracking your battery age, usually written at the back of it where the Information about the battery is. Look around it carefully and read every bit or paste me a picture on the question so i can see. My battery said 04/07 which means, it was built in April 2007 and it is starting to degrade after about 2years cause i looked at the date i got it. It shows you how well i took care of the battery. Not sure how many cycles i've done, between 400 - 450 i think. I never used it alot. It's starting to degrade now. Well there are ways to extend the battery time in the laptop such as, using the Wireless Network can drain the battery or the paticular tasks your doing etc.

Laptop monitor on a T61 Lenovo?

Is it possible to run two external monitors and a laptop monitor on a T61 Lenovo?
So basically I want three monitors running at the same time. I'm looking for a docking station that will allow me to run all three monitors. Does anyone have any answers or links to what I'm looking for? I currently have a 2504 Lenovo docking station, but it seems I can only run two external monitors, and not the laptop monitor...

Look for USB to Video converters. They allow a third, fourth, etc. screen - depending on model. The USB video devices are ok for regular uses, like watching video or doing Office type of stuff. However, they are not meant for gaming - not enough bandwidth...

Should I get a MAC OR A LENOVO LAPTOP?
I understand that both are well known, I am going to college next year and I need a good computer. Lenovo is known for is durablity and mac for its style. I am trying to choose between one of these two. Which one should I get?

I worked for ibm and they don't have good techs.. only a few can really fix the newer units.. so when it go out u gone probably be sending it in a few times till it get fixed right.. mac is virus free but cost a pretty penny to repair.. goodluck.. its more a pc vs mac question its on u.. I have no clue but you are pullin up complaints about macbooks overheating supporting what i typed at first u genius.. read what i typed genius .. Ibm don't have many good techs.. But they will fix it if it's not done right the first time.. B!! Mac is virus free TRUE, but when a mac break down it cost a pretty penny to get fixed.. Ibm = Impala vs Mac = Cadilac.. Yea its smoother ride but u got more options whn it comes to cutomizing with a impala.. and the cost of maintaining is cheaper..
2 :
Lenovo laptops work quickly and efficiently. Their battery life is fairly good, and are perfect for commercial-professional use. They may be expensive, but not as much as a mac. Although virus-free, apple cannot guarantee that in the future. Also, macs are expensive to repair or replace. They work well for home and commercial use. However, your preference is most important. Windows and Mac offer different interfaces and experiences. Try them out first, and see what you like better!
3 :
Nobrainer. Lenovo is a good laptop, and half the price.

Tee B not got a clue check out all the mac consumer complaints first off yahoo answers My Mac is overheating? Hi. I have a new MacBook which I bought about 4 months ago. I use it for around 4-6 hours a day for Uni assignments. But over the past few days its been getting very hot. I tried putting it by the window to see if that helped, but it didn't. Can anyone suggest a reason why the fan is running all the time? My macbook isn't recognizing the battery ? in the top right hand corner where it normally has a picture of a battery it has a picture of a plug and on the bottom where the 4 lights are they don't flash anymore i don't think it recognizes that the batteries there. my brother used the charger on his and it worked so its not the charger HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do need to do your home work on the mac before you buy check out the link below
5 :
I'd recommend a Lenovo any day. Especially the IdeaPad Y series. I guess I'm turning into a fanboy. What you should consider doing is contacting the department head at the college you are going to attend, and ask them what they advise for you buy for your major. It'd be pointless to pay the premium for a Mac if you don't need too. Lenovo laptops have amazing quality parts, and their tech support is amazing as well. I've never had an issue with them, even when I had an IBM laptop and they were transitioning to Lenovo. So that's my opinion anyway. Others might say to get a Mac, but if you are trying to save a couple hundred bucks, why spend upwards of $1500 on a Macbook when a good Lenovo is $750?

Why does my Lenovo Y410 laptop always overheats and then suddenly shuts down?

Why does my Lenovo Y410 laptop always overheats and then suddenly shuts down?
There are also times wherein it shuts down even when it is newly turned on. What does this means and what should I do? Pls. help me. Thanks in advance.
Laptops & Notebooks - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Usually laptop overheats and desktop overheats are caused by a broken cooling system, most computers have a type of vent fan to blow out hot air cause by the machinery-type stuff inside, do you hear a fan-like noise when your computer is on? If not, you may have a broken vent fan.
2 :
Do you use your laptop on your lap? Or, do you let it sit on your bed while you use it? Letting you laptop sit on the bed (or anything soft that it will not have a gap for air under it) will make it get hot and possibly overheat. If your fan is working, you may have a battery problem, and you should take it to someone that can check it out for you.
3 :
It may be a virus or your laptop is having a hard time breathing if that makes since lol. Scan your system for viruses, if none show up. Check your laptop for dust.
4 :
It is probably dust and lint clogging the fan exit. You can send it in for service, but they will charge you. If you feel up to it you can probably clear most of it by removing the door over the CPU and fan (rear of the unit on the side with the fan vent) and then using canned air to blow into the fan exit vent and back though the heatsink vanes and fan.
5 :
im also got Y410 it always overheat try Buy a laptop cooler.. it will worksss !!
6 :
It is probably because the vents have taken in dust and the fans aren't performing at their best. For one thing make sure it is on a hard, flat surface. Once you've done that VACUUM the vent with one of your vacuums to extract the dust inside of it (you don't need to power the laptop off or anything like that). I know this sounds stupid but this is the BEST way for me. I've had many crashes from overheating and my computer would reach up to 53 degrees Celsius but once I vacuumed my vents, it immediately shot down to 18-19 degrees Celsius. It's amazing. You can download a program that controls your fans and tells you the temperature of your computer here --> http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html Good luck

It's because that's where most of the parts of the laptop are that make it work. If it gets too hot I suggest you replace the fan in it.

On the G650, that should be the hard drive generating the heat.

You can't get any legit copy of vista for free anywhere. What you can do is get the recovery CDs from lenovo for a small fee to fix your problem.
2 :
What do you mean you can't get in? is it asking for a product key? If there wasnt a hardware change, the product key that is on the bottom of your laptop should be working, if there was then contact lenovo and ask for a product key. why contact lenovo instead of microsoft? if your vista was pre-installed that means that you have an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) license and your primary support provider for any issue is Lenovo (that is if you still are within warranty) working with a MS tech would require a charge of $59/$79 + tax for OS issues. If product key is what you need and lenovo cannot provide you with that (as they will just point you to MS if they dont know what to do) you can request a lenovo rep to call MS on behalf of you, however, there might be a charge of $10 + tax

Watts on a power supply is available output. As long as the voltage is the same, the wattage increase should have no detrimental affect on your laptop. If you chose a power supply that had a lower wattage, you could overload it and damage it, but going higher should not cause you any problems at all.
2 :
Although the performance is great on the new Leveno´s and the sound is amazing on the T410. and battery time.... if you have a multicharger like the Trust Notebook power adapter ... the tip will eventually soften and be useless as most multichargers go to 70watts Me, I´m on my 2nd Leveno´s, plus I have 1 other HP laptop, a net book, and a pocket PC and 3 computers so yup .... as much as I love em it does annoy me that I can´t just use my multicharger.
3 :
well it really depends if you want to burn the computer buy the bigger watt i recommned a regular standard adapter for that computer if it is compatible with the computer and it has the model in the box of the product i guess it will be fine

One of my notebooks is a Lenovo. The brand notebook really does not have much to do with managing colour in Photoshop. What is important is that 1) you use some kind of monitor calibration tool and 2) use a colour workspace that matches the final output. Final output: Photographic prints or use on the Internet = sRGB at 300 PPI Print media (magazines and other printed material) = RGBAdobe (150 PPI for magazines, 80 PPI for newspapers) The least expensive monitor calibration tool is the Pantone Huey http://reviews.cnet.com/desktop-monitors-displays-accessories/pantone-huey/4505-6513_7-31792026.html While the Colour RGB workspace is sRGB, once you establish a new ICC profile for your monitor using your monitor calibration tool, that new profile will become the standardized RGB workspace used on that computer Here is a book you will find to be one you will eventually want to buy, but for now, look for it in your local library. CMYK 2.0 by Rick McCleary http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/cmyk2.shtml This book describe in detail how to manage colour workspaces and how to become the guardian of colour while the image files are in your custody. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/cmyk2.shtml

In my opinion, your giving a call to the Think center, and let them to help you fix the problem, is the best choice. Commonly, it's free, if your product is < 2 years.
2 :
Go down to the bottom right corner of your screen. click on the up arrow and then click on the energy management icon (most lenovo's have this, mine does at least.) then click on the detailed settings button (the blue gear one) and then click on the second tab in the new window. Go though the settings and change them so it doesn't turn off after a while.

How can I downgrade from Vista to XP, on my new Lenovo T400 laptop?
I have a XP Professional CD (and yes, it's legit), and I do not like Vista, which was pre-equipped with the laptop. When I insert the CD, it does not give me the option to install XP; what should I do?

1 :
Go to your BIOS and make it so that your computer boots from a CD before going to the hard drive Then, Choose to install XP, go on the partition from your hard drive, press D to delete it, press F to format it, then install XP
2 :
yeah, wipe vista off your hard drive and do a fresh install of xp.
3 :
You must start the computer in recovery mode or the disc, you can't simple just run it from the disc like a normal driver.
4 :
You have to boot up with the CD to load it. But before you do this, make sure your laptop will run with XP. Some of the newer motherboards will not run on XP, for example. You also need to look for XP drivers for all of your devices.
5 :
Check with Lenovo's tech support to see if XP is supported on your computer. XP is ancient and obsolete and won't run on some modern computers, especially laptops. And since downgrading isn't supported, you'll need to format the hard drive before installing it. If the computer won't support XP, at that point you'll have an expensive boat anchor.

In answer to your first questions, if you can find a T420 on sale then that would be an excellent laptop. Your next questions don't really have anything to do with your first one. If you want something that can edit videos and play games well then you are going to need to spend more than $700. Also get a desktop. You are going to get more power for the same price as you would with a laptop.
2 :
Curretnly, Lenovo doesn't make anything under $700 that I would buy. For that price range, I would look at a toshiba satellite series laptop. Lenovo has just tanked over the last couple of years.

Doesn't sound like a bargain to me. You can build a REAL computer for $1000
3 :
The place I work uses Lenovo laptops. I carry one back & forth to work every day and use it at home and at work. Its a workhorse, stands up to a lot of abuse and keeps on running. I'm impressed with the Lenovo. Grandpa
4 :
Consumer Report put Lenovo on top. Use Google to see what prices you can find on this laptop. If you have electronic stores in your area, go visit them and check on the prices. However, unless you are a big gammer, a good laptop can be had for about $600. Compaq, HP, and Acer are great. Now if you want flexability and easy portability, stay with a laptop. If you must have great graphics then have someone build you a desk top. A Mac laptop can be great but you may find software problems.
5 :
Is that $999 US? Go to lenovo.com You can get the top end G530 for $600 US. Lenovo systems are better then Dells.

Yeah, it will take a while as it has to copy a couple GB's of data from the disk to your hard drive. The whole installation will take at least 40 minutes. With a slower computer it can take over an hour. The percentage numbers do not increase at a steady rate either.

how long does it take to fully charge lenovo laptop?
its a Lenovo G550L-29585DM The battery light status was red, now its white, but ive only charged it for 1.5hrs. So you reckon i should use it now? or wait abit longer.

It is depend from many reasons. If notebook is turned off it will take 2-3 hours.
2 :
To fully charge up to 100% would probably take 4-6 hours. But the charging is not linear. 10% to 50% is faster than 50% to 90%, and above 90% the charging rate slows way down to prevent any chance of overcharging and damaging the battery. You do not need to charge it to 100% every time. You can charge it to 50% and unplug from the AC adapter. You just will not get as long on battery. The red light is a warning to say that your battery is getting really low, and it would be a good idea to either wrap up what you are doing or plug it in to the adapter.

I have reformatted but the drivers in device manager?

Hi, I have a lenovo 3000 c200 laptop. It came with Xp, I have reformatted but the drivers in device manager?
The follwing items are alerted in device manager: BASE SYSTEM DEVICE, NETWORK CONTROLLER, PCI DEVICE, SM CONTROLLER, VIDEO CONTROLLER. I have downloaded all the driver files available from the lenovo website for this laptop and installed but these are still showing. Any help would be appreciated.

right click on alerted devices click on update device > no not this time > next > install from a list > don's search i will choose,.. > choose youre hardware > (for example : network controller = network adapters ) >next > have disk > browse the drivers in youre hard disk > next> choose the driver in list click next . now windows is install youre driver of not. maybe youre drivers is not compatibility with youre hardware
2 :
If you can’t find the right drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at: http://www.drivers-updates.net/ You can also search by the following link: http://forums.driverguide.com/

Lenovo G530 laptop The Sims 3 work on it?

The Lenovo G530 can play the Sims 3. The CPU (Pentium Dual-Core), RAM (3 GB), and hard drive (250 GB) is sufficient and above the system retirements. The G530 uses the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M graphics which will hold the game back a bit as it is not really suited for gaming. It's playable nevertheless as it performs slightly faster than the minimum Intel GMA X3000 required. Expect to play it around medium-low to low settings.

No, the major manufacturers like Dell, HP and IBM often sell their Notebook PCs with options to buyers with choice of different options to include the built in video card...and the manufacturers also mass produce the accompanying Windows OS and utilities CDs to accomodate such buyer options that also include WiFi etc. There are 2 quick ways to determine which Video Card is installed on your IBM Lenovo Notebook such as (i) opening Control Panel, going to Display then Settings and there it will identify the installed Video Card; or (ii) also going to Control Panel then System then Hardware and doubleclicking on Display Adapters... Hope the Above Info Helps!
2 :
No. Your video chip is soldered onto the motherboard. You can not replace it.

Lenovo R61i laptop

Where can I buy a rubber keyboard for my Lenovo R61i laptop?
The plastic keys keep breaking and falling off, and i was hoping that Lenovo had rubber keyboards for this model. If anyone knows if they are even made or where I can buy them, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't need a keyboard cover, I need an actual keyboard.

Should i get a Apple, Asus or Lenovo laptop?

Should i get a Apple, Asus or Lenovo laptop?
I am interested in battery life. I also want a notebook computer that will last. I chose these three because they have models with graphics card switching: 1 dedicated graphics card for performance and 1 graphics card for battery life. Any ideas?

Get a lenovo think pad there the best!!
2 :
I haven't had an Apple or Asus laptop, but I have had experience with a Lenovo. I did NOT like the Lenovo. It lasted me about a year. It would always freeze and I found it very slow. Also, the battery life didn't last for more than a year. The battery was shot. I hear that Apple laptops have a five year battery life and that it is almost impossible to get viruses. I would stick with the Apple! I wish i had a macbook! lol hope i helped!
3 :
I recommend the best asus
4 :
I've never managed to have a Lenovo last me longer than a year or two. The battery short circuits after a few months, and their overall quality is horrible. Apple laptops are robust and reliable but since they run MacOS, there are sometimes issues with finding compatible software - especially games. They also cost more. ASUS, meanwhile, is a standard Windows laptop. More games, but also more security problems and less reliable software overall. So the question is what do you want? Games - ASUS. Reliability - Apple. Cheap - ASUS. Performance - Apple.
5 :
I have never had a Lenovo or Asus, but I absolutely love my Apple Macbook. It is without a doubt the best computer I have ever had. I've had mine for 3 years and put it through a good amount of abuse and it still runs almost like new! The mac computers are more expensive, but you get what you pay for. This computer has lasted me so much longer than my old HP did. Plus I think the new line of macbooks are even more durable in their design. I will never switch back.
6 :
Lenovo is overpriced and the quality if very generic. I've bought and supported their systems for over 8 years and we wound up enrolling in their warranty administration program so we could fix systems under warranty and get paid. I've had rooms of their equipment fail all at once. And the laptops always had issues. Especially their performance models that overheat. Any high power graphics app will cause those models, specifically the W500's to overheat so you need an external cooler. Apple MAC's (well they have problems too) but Apple does put performance into their systems. If you're ok with using MAC OSX, then its a good choice. The other tier 1 PC laptop vendors are ok as well. Dell, HP, Acer, etc.

My lenovo laptop keeps shutting down for no reason?
It doesn't like log off or anything, just all of a sudden every now and then the screen will just go black and that's that. I turn it back on and it works fine again and everything i'm just wondering what could be causing it?

This is symptomatic of overheating. The absense of air movement from the cooling fan would be an indication of a failure of the fan. This can be checked rather easily on your model. In the Hardware Maintenance Manual, on page 57 , it shows how to access the cooling fan. Here is the manual provided in the link. Also, A diagnistic CD is helpful because it doesn't load the same drivers as the installed O/S does, and if the crash doesn't appear, it's depending on the O/S and not on hardware. If the unit still crashes, it's hardware-related. Good diagnostic CDs can be found to download, perhaps one of the best is Knoppix (www.knoppix.org), which is a Linux based O/S that runs only from the CD - no installation required. A heat issue can appear quickly, even if the fan works OK, if the heatsink isn't tight on the CPU chip for some reason. Try entering BIOS setup and leave the unit there for a few minutes. If the crash happens there, it's hardware- or heat-related. /RID

Somehow you might have lost or removed your sound driver. If you don't have a sound driver disk I'm positive you could download it offline.
2 :
You should try using a different browser (IE, Firefox or Chrome) and see if it works with you-tube. Also, make sure to access the sound preferences from your task bar (right corner next to the clock). If all else fails, go to control panel, system, device manager and find your audio card driver. Right click - uninstall and restart your computer. Once rebooted your sound drivers should re-install automatically. Good luck.

Lenovo laptop with PC DOS

I have a Lenovo laptop with PC DOS, how do I install the drivers from CD provided?
When I install Windows 98, everything goes smoothly but get stuck at the point of asking for the drivers. At the time of installing Windows 98, Windows setup does not recongnise the CD-ROM drive. I boot the system with a bootable CD that allows me to access the CD-ROM drive.

I would add a folder with a cdrom.sys file and Mscdex.exe in it and create or modify "Autoexec.bat" and Config.sys"to load drivers for your cdrom in DOS. That would do it. Avatarxz
2 :
Free Dos or PC DOS whatever is preinstalled in your Lenovo laptop is just fine I would presume it already has all device drivers pre-loaded If this a current purchase, i am not quite sure windows 98 would be suitable. windows xp-home would be better now, dealing with your windows 98 installation: boot up your laptop normally, from hard drive i mean < not from cd > assuming your hard drive is not partitioned, its drive letter is c: & d: is drive letter for cd-rom once booted, you should be able to get the dos prompt insert your windows 98 cd into cd-rom tray d:/ install command should start installation of windows 98 else check exact file name, d:/dir > this should tell you exact file name, instal or install or setup whatever this way it should work do let me know > if it does not, maybe we'll try some other way best of luck on that
